Website Storage

The website may use essential browser storage for interactive page behavior, such as the sample lookup tool. You can clear this through your browser settings.

Analytics and Tracking

Cloudflare Zaraz delivers website events to Google Analytics 4, PostHog, and Microsoft Clarity. By using the WordOrigin website you accept core analytics and tracking. Your acknowledgement (or optional-pixel preference) is stored for up to 180 days. Website events can describe lookup outcomes, broad duration buckets, example and related word selections, page calls to action, and store/download clicks. They do not include searched words or generated etymology text. We do not currently use website advertising cookies. Cookie settings can reduce optional pixels; core analytics remain on.

Managing Cookies

Use Cookie settings in the footer to review the sticky notice. Most browsers also let you block or delete cookies and local storage. Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track prevent Etymology from loading analytics.
