Is sign-in required?
No. Etymology is designed to work without a user account for normal lookup, history, and favorites flows.
Why do I see privacy or ad prompts?
Ads help support word lookups and app updates. Etymology uses platform consent tools before requesting ads where required.
Can I use previous lookups offline?
Previously looked-up words can be cached locally for later reading. New AI-assisted lookups require a network connection.
Does the web tool use real lookup results?
Yes. The web tool sends your word to the Etymology backend gateway and returns the same app-style origin, timeline, word-part, cognate, and related-word structure.

How do I delete my data?
You can clear local app data from Settings or uninstall the app. For identifiable server-side service or support data, follow the Data Deletion instructions.
